Eliza Fath Poxon, Cello
Eliza Fath Poxon started studying cello at the age of 5. At the age of 13 she was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College divison. She went on to receive both a bachelor’s degree and a professional studies degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Melissa Kraut. She continued her studies and received her Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music under Philippe Muller. She received her Suzuki certification in Pre-Twinkle through Book 10 at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Eliza began teaching in 2017. She has served as a faculty member at the Aurora School of Music, Bermuda Piano Festival, Tone Academy of Music located in New York City, and The Bronx School for Music.
Eliza has placed in multiple competitions including winning Grand Prize at the Rocky Ridge Young Artist Seminar Chamber Competition, 2nd prize in the collegiate division of the Tennessee Cello Workshop Competition, and finalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Cleveland Institute of Music Concerto Competition, to name just a few. Additionally, she was awarded the Hans and Klara Bauer Scholarship Award in 2020 at the Manhattan School of Music. She has attended various prestigious festivals including The Great Mountains Music Festival in PyeongChang, South Korea, The Sitka International Cello Seminar, Heifetz International Music Institute, and the Busan Music Festival in South Korea. Eliza has also collaborated with notable musicians such as Zuill Bailey.
