Advanced Violin & Viola Technique Class

The WMA Advanced Technique Program is for select WMA violin and viola students ages 12 and up who are interested in deepening their understanding of playing technique and musical theory. The program is invitation-only via WMA teachers.
Advanced Program Components:
Technique
Shifting technique
3 octave scales and arpeggios
Double stop technique
Fingerboard geography: intervals across strings
Theory
Dissecting rhythm: subdivision & sight reading
Ear training: pitch recognition & sight singing
Applied theory study for advanced players
Collaboration with Pianist
Opportunity to rehearse with WMA’s Advanced Program collaborative pianist up to 1 hour per semester, scheduled outside of class time
Opportunity to perform with pianist on masterclasses, performance classes, and recitals (collaborative piano fees included in tuition)
Masterclasses
1 masterclass per semester, led by esteemed guest artists
1 performance class per semester, led by a WMA faculty member
Please note that all students will get to perform at least once per semester.
Tuition
$240 per Semester in two payments of $120.
